I like it when Saturdays start off with some good news, and it doesn’t get much better than this, as my friends Baptized in Blood have announced their signing with Roadrunner. Rumors had been swirling for awhile that this was coming, so a big beardy salute to them and their party metal ways. Their self-released debut, Gutter Bound, is a sweet mix of thrash/speed and melodic death, but mostly it’s all held together by a small dose of neon irony, an Andrew W.K. inspired good time, and a bottle or two of Jager. I’ve been saying for awhile now that they are way better than the screamo bands they have been associated with (hell, the songwriting alone is what does it for me), and hopefully they can make the most of this opportunity and stand up and be counted by the metal community of which they should be a part. Or at least spray them with a can of silly string or J.D. out of a super soaker.
Again, congrats boys, and here’s hoping it works out for you.
Listen to “Go It Alone” from Gutter Bound!
