My friend Jeremiah, who lives down south in Fort Wright, Kentucky (or some other such place that’s far less progressive than he is), hooked me up with the new Eagle Twin album, The Unkindness of Crows, at my urgent request. I noticed that Shake It Records in Cincinnati, Ohio was selling the album so I sent him across the border to pick it up for me, which he gladly did because that’s just the kind of guy he is. Or maybe he did it so I would stop begging him every hour via e-mail and wall posts, I’m not sure. Either way, he came through for me and I’ve got the album and it’s even more of a monster than I had anticipated.
What I now have in my possession is the deluxe gate-fold 180 gram double orange vinyl version of the The Unkindness of Crows from Southern Lord with two bonus tracks for extra awesomeness. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s super rare (limited to 500 copies) and came with a sweet poster. Oh how it makes my beard tingle.
Eagle Twin is all sorts of scary stoner doom metal, like bad things happening to bad people, and The Unkindness of Crows is fraught with the kind of agonizingly slow and heavy torment that awaits you should you one day decide to venture down into the cellar of an amateur aviary taxidermist, a nervous little fellow adept at suturing who spends all of his waking hours in the dark licking raven bones and conversing with vulture carcasses. Oh how it makes my beard tremble.
Their songs are too massive to share here, so check out their myspace page for all the madness.
