Sweet Apple
Love & Desperation
Tee Pee
Well, it’s finally here, the album I’ve been waiting all year for. With its story-of-my-life title, luscious butter face cover*, and iconic cast of indie longhairs, including J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr., Witch), Dave Sweetapple (Witch), Tim Parnin (Cobra Verde), and John Petkovic (Cobra Verde), it’s a gem of a rock n’ roll album even before you hear any of the glorious alt-pop songs on it. Of course, once you do hear these glorious songs, you’ll just casually close up shop, turn out the lights, pack up your things, and retire from sound. As cool as lunch on the lawn. Oh, they’ll try to bring you back, all of them other sound dealers, but you’ll hold firm and kindly say, “No thanks, I don’t need any more. I’ve done it for a long time, and truth be told I’ve done it pretty well, and now Sweet Apple here is going to carry me home.”
